Imperium Battles Science Fiction Rules

Imperium Battles is a “replacement” set of rules for Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40k, based on the GW-Milton Bradley collaboration Space Crusade. The authors write:

“Imperium Battles” is a tabletop game for 25mm sci-fi miniatures from the Warhammer 40,000/Mutant Chronicles and similar universes that we have developed, based on the Space Crusade rules, but expanding them to cover whole-table scenarios, outdoor terrain, vehicles, buildings, and many more types of figures and weapons. The simplicity of the Space Crusade rules is zealously protected – “no tapemeasures or results tables” is the motto, and fun and relaxing games are the order of the day. Consequently, hexes are used for location and movement (although sometimes squares are still used on particular board sections or terrain pieces), with these hexes largely being supplied by the excellent ‘Battlescape’ range of terrain accessories from Geo-Hex.

Napoleonic Battlefield Commander

Napoleonic Battlefield Commander is a set of free wargames rules for the Napoleonic era. The author writes:

This is a set of rules to allow the major land battles of the Napoleonic Era to be fought on the wargames table in a quick and timely manner. In the game, each Player takes on the role of a commander on one side of a major battle, real or hypothetical. The rules take a “hands-off” approach to the way the Player can influence the outcome of individual Close Combats etc. It is the role of the Player to determine a strategy for the battle and move his Formations and Units in accordance with that. He will have to trust to the abilities of the commanders below him in the chain-of-command (shown by frequent throwing of dice) and trust that his plan of action will enable him to overcome his opponent using planning and tactics rather than the rules. These rules started out as amendments to the Grande Armee ruleset, but have grown considerably to the point that they now are very different from the original.

Schwerpunkt Rules for Warfare in the Age of the Rifle

Schwerpunkt is a set of free wargames rules for conflicts from the late 19th through the 20th centuries.. The author writes:

Schwerpunkt is a set of rules I designed myself before I bought CLA.  Basically I asked myself what I wanted in a wargame and came up with the following criteria:
1) It had to be fast Playing
2) It should be capable of producing historical results
3) It had to be fun
With this in mind, I set about using all the rulesets I have ever played or read to come up with what I liked and didn’t like.

Command, Control and Communications Napoleonics Rules

Command, Control and Communications is a set of free wargames rules for the Napoleonic period.

Bravado Universal Wargames Rules

Bravado is a set of free wargames rules suitable for a wide variety of periods. What makes these rules different is what the author calls “the revolutionary concept of Player Determined Initiative Risk Order.” With it, players may choose to gain the initiative, but at increasing risk of exhausting commanders.
