Verdammnis Weird WWII Rules

Eric Laurent has written Verdammnis, a “weird World War II” modification for the excellent commercial rules set “Dogs of War.”

The modifications include rules for Nazi scientists, zombies, super soldiers, and werewolves, as well as providing stats for WWII British, Russian, US and German troops.

Old Trousers 6mm

From Baccus miniatures, Old Trousers 6mm is a set of quick-play Napoleonics, played on a 2 foot x 2 foot board.

Trench Assault

Jim Wallman presents Trench Assault, a battalion level game simulating a rush across no man’s land in 1916. Jim writes that it can be used with any scale figures, but that 1/300 or 6mm would be best because they are closest to the groudn scale.

Hardtack Civil War Rules

Hardtack is a set of regimental Civil War rules based on the excellent Stargrunt II rules. With a scale of 1 fire = 3-5 men, it’s intended for fighting one regiment v another, filling the space between Johnny Reb and Brother v Brother.

Stonk – Brigade Level WWII Rules

Stonk is a set of brigade level World War II rules, designed for 1/300 scale miniatures. The authors write:

This is a set of wargame rules intended to simulate actions between about one brigade equivalent a side, supported by divisional or even corps troops where they would have been available.

The basic philosophy of the rules can be summarised:

a. That morale and leadership are decisive factors in these battles
b. Logistics is a critical factor, even in the battalion battle and is too often overlooked,
c. Communications, command and control are very influential and central to conducting a battle
d. Planning – especially artillery fire planning is a vital part of the battle, and again is too often overlooked.
e. That technology is generally over-rated and minor differences between, say, tank types have been given too great a prominence in wargame rules. I have attempted to redress this.
