Last of the Mohicans Rules
Rex Hurley has written a set of free wargames rules for playing Last of the Mohicans with 25mm – 28mm wargames miniatures. The rules are relatively simple, and include statistics for all of the main characters, such as Hawkeye, Uncas, Chingachgook, Magua, et. al.
There’s also a page of pictures for inspiration.
Stargate Rules
This site has a set of modifications for playing Stargate SG1 games using Devil Dog Designs’ Dogs of War rules. There also are some good pictures of not-Stargate miniatures, which I assume are the ones created by Eureka Miniatures.
Musket Effectiveness Analysis
Rules writers pay attention! Mike Willegal has written an analysis of the effectiveness of black powder muskets.

Brian Cameron’s Warfare in Western Europe is a set of free wargames rules for medieval warfare. The scale is 1:50 and the set leans more toward the “beer and pretzels” style of game, as its just three pages long. But that’s a good thing!
