Valiant Britons is Jim Wallman’s contribution to wargaming ancient british tribes in the pre Roman era. Its designed for 15mm figures, but he says that any scale will do. Like all of Wallman’s rules sets, it’s well done and makes me want to start painting the period immediately.
The Ancient Battles site offers a nice article on building a Warhammer Ancient Battles mercenary hoplite unit for a Persian army (for use with the Alexander The Great supplement). The author uses a variety of painting techniques, and there are some nice photos.
The prolific Matt Fritz offers Fighting for The Pharaoh, a set of simple and free wargames rules for refighting the battle of Kadesh in miniature. The best part is that, in addition to the rules, Matt also offers paper figures in both color and black and white. LIke all of his games, this one is designed for Matt’s students.
