Gut Check Solo 15mm Science Fiction Rules v1.7

Gut Check is a set of free wargames rules for 15mm science fiction battles. What makes it unique, I think, is that it’s designed from the start for solo play. The author lists its features:

Designed from the ground up for solo play
Fast playing and zero bookkeeping
Uses normal 6 sided dice (Usually rolled no more than 2 at a time)
Uses activation rolls modified by battlefield conditions for turn sequence
Seamless Over watch and suppression effects built into system
Use any miniatures
Played on a Hex grid for convenience, but could be played with little fuss on a standard table

Foundry Street Violence Rules

Some years ago, Wargames Foundry published a set of rules to go with their Street Violence figures. They’re missing — as far as I can tell — from the Foundry site, but you still can get them as a free download at The Warstore.

Stars Without Number Free RPG

Stars Without Number is temporarily free at RPG Now. It’s an old-school RPG.

The year is 3200 and mankind’s empire lies in ashes.

The Jump Gates fell six hundred years ago, severing the links between the myriad worlds of the human diaspora.

Now, the long isolation of the Silence falls away as men and women return to the skies above their scattered worlds.

Will you be among them?

Dune Express

Dune Express is a print-and-play board game based on the 1970s era Avalon Hill game Dune. The authors write:

DUNE Express is a print-and-play boardgame. It is based on a game published in the late 70s, which was set in the well known science fiction universe created by Frank Herbert. The original game was quite complicated. DUNE Express is a community-written version of this game which is much more simple and quicker to play (hence the “express”). I chose to take these Express rules and create all the components for the game as a portfolio piece. I was keen to give it a Steampunk theme and to avoid it looking too technologically advanced.
