Welcome to H.P. Lovecraft’s Arkham, the 1920s. There will be many mysteries to uncover in this storytelling game of Lovecraftian terror. Using the provided newspaper, a list of allies, the directory of Arkham residents and a map of Arkham – your job is to follow the clues from location to location, suspect to suspect – to unravel the mystery and answer the questions posed at the end of each scenario.

Your score will depend upon the number of clues points you needed to visit, the risks you took to your sanity in your investigations and your ability to find the correct answers to the questions.

Match wits with Armitage’s final score the man who has been exposed to the sanity-blasting truth about the existence of the age old evil! Can you beat his score?

With that in mind it is time to collaborate with Armitage’s investigations to complete your training. This is not a typical board game: No dice, no luck, but a challenge to your mental ability.

New MBT Maps and Scenarios

I played a lot of Avalon Hill’s MBT game when it first came out. Now you can get new maps and scenarios depicting terrain/actions found in the fictional WW3 novel “First Clash” by Kenneth Macksey.The premise of the book revolved around the Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group defending its sector in West Germany in the opening days of WW3 against attacking Soviet tank/motor rifle regiments.

O.K. So it’s not miniatures, but anyone my age will remember the classic SPI game “Dawn of the Dead.” There’s a downloadable version here.

G63 Gettysburg 1863 Board Game

G63 Gettysburg 1863 is a hex-and-counter board game of the battle of Gettysburg. The print-and-play game is free for the downloading. I am not sure, however, if it is entirely serious in nature. There are just two counters and the board has just seven hexes. The rules, however, seem to indicate something more serious. Strange.

Acies Ancients Battle Card Game

Acies is a very nice looking two player card game designed to simulate conflict between ancient armies. it looks like it would be a fun thing to play on off-nights when your regular miniatures games end early. All the parts you need are there to download and print out.
