Battle Chronicler Battle Report Creator

Battle Chronicler is an interesting piece of software that helps you create great looking battle reports.

Battle Chronicler aims to make it quick and easy to produce great looking battle reports that other gamers will want to read. Using the latest developments in Windows technology Battle Chronicler delivers fantastic graphics and a ultra modern user interface.

So if you are miniatures wargamer looking to enhance your hobby with some cool software then you have come to the right place.

Why you need it

There are lots of reasons to write a battle report; share tips and tactics with other players, or to publicize your best victory on the web.

Table top games are about positioning and movement and words are not enough. You also need diagrams for a good battle report. Making plans and diagrams of a game is hard to do, which is why very few games every get recorded in a battle report. That was until now.

Battle Chronicler has been designed to do this one task and to do it well.

Berthier Campaign Manager

A new version of the Berthier Campaign Management software is out. Tony DeLyall, the programmer, explains:

Berthier is software that manages wargames campaigns for miniatures. Berthier allows two campaigners, without an umpire, to run simple strategic campaigns leading to tabletop battles. Alternatively umpires can use Berthier to run two sided campaigns. Berthier is suitable for historical, naval or fantasy wargaming in most periods but was developed with the Horse and Musket period in mind. Play by email (PBEM) is possible.

The software has been updated to version: 6.0

Kriegspiel Computer Game

Kriegspiel is the name given by a French designer to his game looks like sort a sort of a cross between Chess and an Avalon Hill style wargame. It was mass produced in 1987, and now is out in a computerized version. There’s no AI, though, so you’ll have to find an opponent. It looks interesting. There are both Mac and Windows versions.

Trading Card Maker

Big Huge Labs has an online utility for creating trading cards of the Magic: The Gathering sort. But I’m sure resourceful miniatures gamers can find a more serious use for it.

Wargames Terrain Generator

Tony Thomas has created the Wargames Terrain Generator, a program that’s free for the downloading. He tells about it in an email: “What it does is allow you to create and customize a random terrain for your wargame of choice. Wargame terrain generator can also create an actual image of the table top using terrain images for battle reports and so forth (a basic terrain set is provided with the download). Wargame terrain generator is still currently in beta, so while all the functionality is working there is very little idiot proofing.”
