Playing The Royal Game of UR

For many decades, the rules for the Royal Game of Ur were unknown. The board and pieces were discovered in Iraq in the 1920s, but no one knew how to play. It has long been speculated that it is the predecessor of modern backgammon.

Now, thanks to deciphering a table, Irving Finkel of the British Museum thinks he has the rules. Videos below:
