G63 Gettysburg 1863 is a hex-and-counter board game of the battle of Gettysburg. The print-and-play game is free for the downloading. I am not sure, however, if it is entirely serious in nature. There are just two counters and the board has just seven hexes. The rules, however, seem to indicate something more serious. Strange.

Simple Samurai Skirmish Rules
The older I get, the more I like simple rules sets. Here’s one for Samurai Skirmishes.
From the introduction:
Sensō is a skirmish game, 1:1 figure scale, for 25mm miniatures. One scale inch represents six feet and one turn roughly approximates one-two minutes. Bases should be square for foot, approximately one inch. Mounted can be 1” x 2”. The game is WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get); figures are armed and armoured as they appear.
Bravado Horse and Musket Rules
Bravado is a set of free wargames rules for the horse and musket period. There are guidelines for both the American War of Independence and Napoleonic Wars for play. The rules employ an interesting mechanism where the players compete for initiative, deciding how much they will risk disaster in order to have another phase of movement or attack or time to reform their regiments.
Acies Ancients Battle Card Game
Acies is a very nice looking two player card game designed to simulate conflict between ancient armies. it looks like it would be a fun thing to play on off-nights when your regular miniatures games end early. All the parts you need are there to download and print out.
Gold Rush Wargames Rules
Gold Rush is a set of free wargames rules for 25mm – 28mm figures featuring Mounties in the Yukon in 1898. Dudley Do-Right and all that.
